I.     The King's Ardent Search (verses 1-6)

II.    The King's Adopted Son (verses 7-11)

III.  The King's Abundant Supper (verses 12-13)

"Christians may be certain to receive all the blessings of adoption as God’s children because of the words “for Christ’s sake.” These words provide the key to all the blessings of God’s covenant, for as Paul extolled, God “has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Eph. 1:3). John said that our “sins are forgiven for his name’s sake” (1 John 2:12). For Christ’s sake we are justified, adopted, sanctified through the Spirit, and glorified in the end as the people of God. All these eternal riches are offered to sinners through faith in Jesus. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,” he urged (Matt. 11:28). “Let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price” (Rev. 22:17)."  ~ Richard Phillips
